B.H. Kennedy peacefully transitioned from life on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the age of 83, in the comfort of his home. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather (paw paw), uncle, cousin, and friend who loved his family and had a strong work ethic, quiet strength, and kingly spirit that touched everyone he met.
Born January 30, 1943, to the late Simon Kennedy and Truelove Evans, he was the oldest of three children.
He graduated from Midway Vocational High School (later named North Scott High School), Scott County, Mississippi, in 1964. He later joined the United States Army in November of 1964. Shortly after boot camp, he was deployed to Korea for a tour of duty until 1970. In 1970, he was united in matrimony with Ida Hull, and two children were born: Carlton and Rev. Harold Kennedy. Later, he was united in matrimony with Sylvia Banks in 1986; two children were born: Kasey Kennedy and Teelisa Kennedy.
Later in life, he joined the Midway M. B. Church. He worked at Wallace Timber and International Paper in Morton, Mississippi, for many years until closing. After retirement, he worked at the Midway Head Start Center as a bus driver and janitor.Earning the respect of co-workers and children, who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Minnie Pearl Strong.
He is survived by his wife Sylvia Kennedy, his sons Carlton (Katrela) Kennedy of North Carolina; Pastor Dr. Harold (Daphine) Kennedy of Brandon, Mississippi; Kasey (Alicia) Kennedy of Lena, Mississippi; and daughter Teelisa Kennedy of Georgia. His sister Mandy McBeath of Forest, Mississippi; brothers-in-law Billy Strong, Jerome Banks, and Plummer Banks; and sister-in-law Alicia Banks. Eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and a long-time friend, John Howard Kennedy, and a bonus son, Lamarty Kindcaid
