Floyd Lee Sharpe

Floyd Lee Sharpe was born on December 7, 1958, along with his fraternal twin, Linda, to Fannie Jane and Fulton Sharpe. His childhood was spent in Mississippi, where he enjoyed riding horses, fishing, swimming, and walking the dirt roads with friends while visiting neighbors. During those years, he was affectionately known as “Sonny.” In the early 1970s, the family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where Floyd graduated from Rufus King High School in 1977.

While living in Milwaukee, Floyd began attending a Bible study that his mother had started. In time, he dedicated his life to Jehovah God and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on December 30, 1977. For the next 48 years, his relationship with Jehovah remained the most important part of his life. He dearly loved the ministry and had the privilege of conducting Bible studies with many individuals over the years.

On January 16, 1982, Floyd married the love of his life, Kimberly Jones. Together they shared nearly 39 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2021. Their union was blessed with three sons, Aaron, Jordy, and Matt. Floyd was a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished friend and family member to so many. He especially loved being “Paw Paw” to his three granddaughters, Makayla, Mimi & Maddie.

Floyd had the privilege of serving as an elder in the Forest Congregation for many years, where he loved assisting his spiritual brothers and sisters. He also enjoyed serving in the Baptism Department at assemblies for many years and had the joy of baptizing many people throughout the area.

He believed in working hard, both in his secular employment and around his home, where he enjoyed yard work and home improvement projects. He delighted in playing chess and cards with family and friends. During the last years of his life, he especially treasured visits from his brothers, sisters, and extended family, as well as time spent with his congregation friends. And, of course, he never turned down a good meal. During the final year of his life, Floyd attended the Carthage Congregation, where he quickly grew close to many who affectionately called him “Pops.”

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Aaron (Ashaki) and Matthias (Marisol); his three granddaughters, Makayla, Marissa, and Madeline; his brothers, Nathaniel Sharpe and Christopher Sharpe of Forest, Mississippi; his sister, Myrtis Lindsey of Forest, Mississippi; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kimberly Sharpe; his son, Jordy Sharpe; his parents, Fannie Jane and Fulton Sharpe; his brothers, Fulton Sharpe and Samuel “Bob” Sharpe; and his sisters, Priscilla and his twin sister, Linda.

Floyd will be remembered for his steadfast faith in Jehovah, his love for his family, his tireless work ethic, his warm friendship, his infectious smile and the genuine care he showed to everyone whose life he touched. His example of faith and kindness will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
