Tomeka R Smith

Ms. Tomeka Rochelle Smith was born on December 20, 1976, to Milton Smith and Ruthie Ickom Lay.

At an early age Ms. Tomeka confessed to Christ and was baptized at Antioch MB Church. Upon graduation from Lake High School, she joined the National Guard.

Tomeka was a faithful member of Antioch MB Church where she served as the church secretary.

Known as Meka to her family and friends, she was a humble, kindhearted person that was loved throughout her community. Tomeka had a vibrant spirit and embraced life fully and unapologetically, finding joy in the simple things such as spending time with her family. She was a true New Orleans Saints fan. Her great love for her grandmother and that beautiful smile could brighten anyone’s day, leaving an unforgettable mark on those blessed enough to meet her.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, George and Claudie Mae Smith; her sister, Leslie Lay; and her nephew, Jabari Lay.

Tomeka leaves to cherish her memory loving parents, Milton Smith, Fort Wayne, IN, and Ruthie Ickom Lay of Forest, MS; two sisters, Tyailieka Lay of Brandon, MS, and Lashanda Lay of Forest, MS; Two brothers, Terrence Smith and Seddarrian Lay of Forest, MS; loving grandparents, Elijah and Annie Jewel Ickom of Lake, MS; a loving aunt, Ilene Ickom of Lake, MS;

Two amazing cousins, Symone Ickom of Forest, MS and Shaquinta Ickom of Flowood, MS; a host of aunts and uncles, an abundance of cousins, and friends
